Two in Stolen SUV Arrested, Terminator Device Deployed in Broadview Neighborhood

Seattle police arrested two people in a stolen SUV after reports of someone slumped over in a running vehicle with no license plates.

 Officers were called to the area near Second Avenue Northwest and Northwest 115^th Street in the Broadview neighborhood at about 11:30 a.m. on March 16.

 Once on scene, investigators found the driver of the vehicle, a 43-year-old man, passed out behind the wheel. Officers placed Terminator devices under the SUV’s tires and asked for additional officers to respond as the vehicle was believed to be stolen. It was later confirmed to be stolen.

 Shortly after, the driver woke up and ran over the tire deflation devices. Despite officers turning on lights and sirens, the driver continued at a low rate of speed, with officers monitoring the vehicle’s movements.

 The driver of the SUV continued to try to elude police with several flat tires, moving at a low speed, before reaching the dead-end of Fourth Avenue Northwest and stopping. He left the vehicle to run away from police but was arrested after a short foot pursuit.

 A woman who was a passenger in the SUV was also arrested. Drug paraphernalia was found on the driver and in the SUV.

 The driver was arrested for attempting to elude, possession of a stolen vehicle and driving under the influence.

 The passenger had a felony warrant and was arrested for taking a motor vehicle without permission.

 Both were booked in the King County Jail.
