CHICAGO — A carload of armed men swept through Bucktown on Thursday morning, robbing at least five people in under a half hour before hurrying out of the neighborhood. Chicago police confirmed that the same group had committed all the robberies.

The crew, wearing masks and black hoodies, jumped out of a gray Dodge Durango and pointed guns at their victims’ heads, police said.

A local resident shared pictures of one of the robberies with CWBChicago. In the first photo, four men wearing black hoodies and masks surround a woman in the 1900 block of North Hoyne around 6:18 a.m.

Another picture shows the men returning to their getaway car, with two holding firearms and one apparently searching through the victim’s phone.

About 20 minutes earlier, the same group robbed a man in the 2300 block of West Charleston. They also robbed a victim in the 2000 block of North Leavitt around 6:25 a.m., as well as a husband and wife in the 2100 block of North Oakley around 6:27 a.m.

Police said the gunmen forced one of the victims to reset his phone password while threatening him with a pistol. They made another victim log into their banking apps.

According to CPD, the group consists of four slim Black males between 18 and 25 years old, standing 5’6″ to 6 feet tall.

Area Three detectives are handling the investigation. Their number is 312-746-7394.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets.
