3-year-old killed in traffic collision in Fontana

A 3-year-old child was killed Tuesday, April 30, in a traffic collision in Fontana, the Fontana Police Department said.

The crash was reported just after 4 p.m. at Baseline and Almeria avenues, said Officer Steven Reed, a department spokesman. A car was traveling west on Baseline when it attempted to turn left onto Almeria. The car was broadsided by a car headed east on Baseline, Reed said.

The child was in the right rear passenger seat and was pronounced dead at the scene. Police on Wednesday were still trying to determine which car had the right of way, Reed said.

Reed would not release the child’s gender. No other circumstances of the collision were available.
