Remains of Young Child Reportedly Found in Search for Missing Elijah Vue

A Milwaukee radio host is reporting investigators believe they have found the remains of 3-year-old Elijah Vue at a Wisconsin Girl Scout camp.

Dan O’Donnell of NewsTalk1130 reports that the remains were found at Girl Scout Camp Manitou-Two Rivers, near a home that was once shared by the toddler’s mother, Katrina Baur, and her boyfriend, Jesse Vang.

The Two Rivers Police Department, which has been handling the investigation into Elijah’s disappearance in February, acknowledged in a Facebook post that remains had been found on Saturday by a deer hunter but said they could not confirm if the remains were connected with the Elijah Vue case.

Vang and Baur have been charged with neglect in connection with the boy’s disappearance, as CrimeOnline reported. Vang had reportedly been caring for the child since mid-February, after his mother dropped him off there for reported behavioral issues.

According to the complaint against Vang, he told police that he brought Elijah into a bedroom with him at around 8 a.m., and ordered him to stand next to the bed and pray. Vang claimed he fell asleep and when he woke up three hours later, the child was gone.

O’Donnell reported that searchers had recovered a skull confirmed to be human and other bones, along with a diaper. The remains have not been positively identified, but O’Donnell said that the “working theory” is that they are the missing child’s.

O’Donnell noted that the camp had been searched twice before, but that it is a very large area. The remains found on Saturday were found in a “remote area,” O’Donnell said.
