CHICAGO — A man on parole for a felony gun case is accused of helping another man carjack a Rolls-Royce in Beverly last month. Prosecutors said police found the victim’s address in a note on the man’s phone, along with a video of the stolen car.

The hijacking occurred around 5:30 p.m. on June 27 in the 9100 block of South Hoyne. A 54-year-old woman was in her silver 2017 Rolls-Royce Wraith when a dark-colored SUV blocked her path, officials said.

A gunman emerged from the SUV and took her car at gunpoint. A used 2017 Rolls-Royce Wraith typically retails for more than $160,000.

Last week, a Chicago Police Department license plate reader near 210 West 51st Street spotted the SUV used in the hijacking. Covert police units assigned to the city’s carjacking task force swooped in, located the SUV, and watched as 19-year-old Trevon Robinson got out of the car and walked into a Foot Locker at 4715 South Ashland, a CPD report said.

Uniformed officers arrested Robinson inside the store.

Meanwhile, investigators determined that the SUV he was driving had itself been carjacked from a woman in the 1900 block of East 95th Street on June 8, according to the report.

Prosecutors said Robinson recorded a video of himself following the hijacked Rolls-Royce on the day of the carjacking. Detectives allegedly recovered a note from his phone bearing the victim’s home address, too.

A criminal complaint charges Robinson with armed vehicular hijacking in connection with the Rolls-Royce carjacking but not with stealing the SUV on June 8.

Judge Deidre Dyer detained Robinson because he was a safety risk.

Court records show Robinson pleaded guilty to aggravated unlawful use of a weapon on April 4. He reported to the Stateville Correctional Center the following day, and after receiving credit for good behavior and time served in jail, he went home the same day. State officials are moving to revoke his parole, given the new allegations.
